Product details
Product description
The External Level Shifter converts TTL signals with low voltage (3.3 V) into RS-232 UART signals and vice versa. It is primarily used to convert serial signals between the head unit of a vehicle on one side and a PC or data logger on the other. It can also be used for other devices in an industrial environment where conversion of serial signals is required. A common input/output socket on the front of the External Level Shifter connects both sides of the conversion.
Project-specific adaptations
All components of the XORAYA ecosystem are designed to work together seamlessly and can be flexibly combined to create individual system solutions. The modular architecture enables targeted expansions without changing the existing system logic – for a consistent and scalable system in terms of data rate, memory, interfaces and performance.
Verification, tests & conformity to standards
All devices undergo comprehensive verification tests, including functional tests, boundary scan tests and system tests as well as EMC tests. In addition, mechanical function and wear tests, vibration tests and temperature and humidity tests are carried out to ensure reliability under real operating conditions.
Our development and business processes meet the requirements of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. X2E is also certified according to TISAX® (ENX Association) and meets the information security requirements of the automotive industry. All devices bear the CE mark and comply with the applicable European directives.

FAQ
In this FAQ you will find answers to key questions about the External Level Shifter – from typical application scenarios and technical features to how it compares to other solutions.
What is the External Level Shifter used for?
The external level shifter is used to convert 3.3 V TTL UART signals into RS-232 UART signals and vice versa. It is primarily used for communication between a vehicle head unit and a PC or data logger, but is also suitable for industrial applications requiring the adaptation of different serial signal levels.
How is the External Level Shifter connected?
Connection is made via a shared input/output jack on the front of the device. This interface enables easy connection of the two sides of the signal conversion process and ensures straightforward integration into existing test and development environments.
