FAQ
Answers to the most frequently asked questions about our data loggers
Our FAQ provides answers to the most frequently asked questions about XORAYA data loggers, accessories, and software. If you need additional information or would like personalized advice, our team will be happy to assist you.
How do I find the right data logger for my application?
Choosing the right data logger primarily depends on which bus systems you need to record and how many channels are required. The expected data rate and the required storage capacity are also key factors in selecting the most suitable system.
For complex applications, a distributed data logging system consisting of multiple devices may be the best solution. Thanks to the modular XORAYA ecosystem, data loggers can be flexibly expanded or combined with additional probes as requirements evolve.
A Product Finder is also available to help you select the right solution. Alternatively, one of our product consultants will be happy to assist you in choosing the most suitable configuration.
What is the difference between a data logger and a data sink?
A data logger acquires data, synchronizes it, and stores it directly from bus systems or connected probes. A data sink aggregates multiple data sources and serves as the central hub in a distributed logging system. While a data logger handles individual measurement tasks, data sinks are used in more complex measurement setups involving multiple devices.
Which bus systems, interfaces, and protocols are supported?
The XORAYA ecosystem supports a wide range of automotive and industrial interfaces, including CAN, CAN FD, CAN FD SIC, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet (100/1000BASE-T1), Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, PSI5, RS-232, as well as analog and digital inputs and outputs. In addition, project-specific interfaces such as ARINC, MIL-STD, or other proprietary bus systems can be integrated as required.
Which applications are XORAYA series data loggers designed for?
The XORAYA data loggers provide a powerful platform for acquiring, analyzing, and validating complex systems. They are primarily used in the automotive industry for vehicle development, test drives, ADAS and autonomous driving applications, vehicle network analysis, as well as test benches and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) systems.
They are also widely used in industrial automation, robotics, aerospace, research, and defense applications, where they provide reliable, time-synchronized acquisition of large volumes of data, even under demanding operating conditions.
Do you also offer accessories such as cable assemblies?
Yes. Matching the respective interface configuration, a range of suitable analysis cables and cable assemblies is available. In addition, our accessory portfolio includes converters, measurement racks, mounting solutions, and other components for building professional measurement systems.
Custom solutions are also available. We are happy to help you select the right accessories or work with you to develop a solution tailored to your specific requirements.
