FAQ about our products
Answers to frequently asked questions about our product portfolio – with an overview of our solutions, their benefits and support in selecting the right product for your requirements.
What products & solutions does X2E offer?
X2E offers high-performance data loggers and measurement systems for the acquisition, storage, and processing of vehicle and test data. The portfolio ranges from compact loggers for individual applications to scalable systems designed for complex measurement tasks and long-term testing. These solutions are suitable for both development and test environments as well as field deployment.
Typical areas of application and industries are
- Automotive: environmental tests and endurance testing, driver assistance systems (ADAS), driving dynamics tests and driving behavior, tests of automated driving functions
- Aviation: flight testing and system validation, environmental testing and qualification, avionics and communication systems, sensor and navigation systems
- Robotics and AI: sensors and perception systems, motion and control systems, human-robot interaction
- Industry and mechanical engineering: acquisition of sensor data from hydraulic systems, drives, control units and environmental sensors
- Maritime industry: classic bus systems such as CAN are also used in ships
Why should I choose XORAYA data loggers and what makes them unique?
XORAYA data loggers differ from many solutions on the market primarily in terms of their system architecture, flexibility and performance.
A key advantage is the high level of intercompatibility within the XORAYA ecosystem. Data loggers, probes and storage solutions can be flexibly combined so that systems can be specifically adapted to the desired number of interfaces and data rates. The support of gPTP and ASAM CMP also enables manufacturer-independent integration – even with third-party probes.
XORAYA systems also offer a number of technical advantages:
- Multibus recording: Simultaneous recording of different bus systems in one device
- High data rates: Suitable for data-intensive applications (e.g. ADAS)
- Flexible configuration: filters, triggers and other functions enable targeted logging
- Standalone and online operation: use both in the vehicle and in the laboratory or on the test bench
- Fast start-up times: Immediately ready for use thanks to embedded systems
There is also clear added value in practical use:
- Automotive Ethernet bridging: Bus communication remains unaffected even when switched off
- Standardized data storage: Storage on file systems for easy further processing
- System solution from a single source: from loggers and storage devices to readout stations and accessories
In short:
XORAYA is not just a single data logger, but a scalable, open overall system that can be flexibly adapted to different requirements and offers clear advantages both technically and in terms of workflow.
Can X2E GmbH products be customized?
X2E offers the option of customizing hardware, software and interfaces. This ranges from individual configurations to specially developed functions or integrations to optimally support existing processes and systems.
What advantages do X2E data loggers offer over other systems?
Our XORAYA Series data loggers offer precision, performance, and reliability for demanding applications. They provide accurate timestamps with a precision of up to 100 nanoseconds and enable the simultaneous recording of all relevant bus systems in the vehicle.
Thanks to their robust construction, these devices are designed for the harshest operating conditions and offer impressive temperature resistance, shock resistance, and durability. Data rates of up to 100 Gbit/s also enable the reliable acquisition of high-speed signals.
XORAYA data loggers feature a modular design and can be flexibly customized and expanded through both hardware and software. OEMs and suppliers worldwide rely on the XORAYA series of data loggers.
How do I find the right data logger for my application?
Selecting the right data logger takes just a few steps.
Defining Interfaces:
First, you should determine which bus systems and how many interfaces need to be monitored. Based on this, you can identify the appropriate XORAYA data loggers or probes. If necessary, multiple devices can also be combined.
Consider the data rate:
For applications with data rates up to about 3 Gbit/s, recording to internal storage is generally sufficient. For higher data rates or larger data volumes, we recommend using external storage solutions such as ESU or ASU.
Expanding the system:
If a required bus system is not directly supported, third-party probes can also be integrated into the system via the open ASAM CMP interface.
A product finder is also available on the website to assist you. For specific requirements, we recommend consulting directly with the sales team to develop an optimal system configuration.
Can existing systems be expanded or scaled (e.g., additional interfaces or storage)?
Yes, the XORAYA system has a modular design and can be flexibly expanded and scaled—in terms of interfaces, storage capacity, and data rate.
Additional Interfaces:
By using probes (e.g., MultiProbe X1 or Probe B12), existing data loggers can be expanded to include additional bus systems and measurement channels.
Scaling Data Acquisition:
Multiple data loggers and probes can be combined into distributed systems to support complex measurement setups with many data sources.
Expanding Storage Capacity:
Depending on the system, external storage devices such as ESU (for data loggers) or RSU (for data sinks) can be used.
Scaling the data rate:
For particularly large volumes of data, central systems such as data sinks or high-speed storage solutions (e.g., ASU) can be integrated.
Device-Specific Upgrades:
Many XORAYA data loggers feature a modular design and use plug-in module cards. This allows interfaces to be flexibly adapted or expanded. Internal memory upgrades are also possible, enabling existing devices to be adapted to new requirements.

Data logging
FAQ about data recording
Everything you need to know about using data logging – from possible applications and functions to typical use cases and analysis options.
Is it possible to record triggered data?
Yes, it is possible to record triggered data. The recording can be triggered by a defined trigger and can also be configured with a pre- and post-trigger time. This means that events can be recorded both before and after the trigger.
How do data loggers, probes, data sinks and memory interact?
In the XORAYA ecosystem, data loggers, probes, data sinks and storage work together as coordinated components for the acquisition, distribution and storage of data.
- Probes record data directly at the signal source and provide additional interfaces. They do not store any data themselves, but transmit it to central systems.
- Data loggers record the data from probes or directly from bus systems, synchronize them and can store them internally or on external storage devices.
- Data sinks act as central nodes in distributed systems. They bundle data streams from several loggers and probes and enable high-performance, centralized data logging.
- Storage solutions (e.g., ESU or RSU) are used for persistent data storage. Depending on the system configuration, they may be connected directly to the logger, integrated at the data sink, or deployed as a separate high-performance storage backend.
In short:
Probes record data, data loggers process it, data sinks bundle it and storage solutions save it permanently.
What formats can data be converted to?
Recorded data can be converted into various formats, including: MF4, PCAP, BLF/DBC, ASC, XAA, DLT, TXT, esotrace, RAW, CSV, SCSV/IFF, JPG, MP4, H264 and many more. Conversion is dependent on the software version, additional formats may be available. A complete list of supported formats can be requested from Support.

How many interfaces can I record simultaneously with one XORAYA system?
XORAYA devices are designed to record several bus systems in parallel and synchronously. The actual number of interfaces that can be recorded depends on the device used and its configuration.
However, the modular system architecture allows the number of interfaces to be expanded flexibly:
- Data loggers already offer several integrated interfaces
- Probes enable additional, decentralized measuring points
- Data sinks bundle data from several devices into an overall system
In this way, even complex measurement setups with many parallel interfaces can be realized.
In short:
The number of detectable interfaces is not fixed, but can be adapted to the respective application by combining several devices in the XORAYA ecosystem.
Can I add additional interfaces to my system at a later date?
Yes, XORAYA systems have a modular design and can be flexibly expanded even after installation.
Additional interfaces can be integrated at various levels:
- About Probes: Expansion to Include Additional Bus Systems and Decentralized Measurement Points
- Using Additional Data Loggers: Scaling Complex Measurement Setups with Many Parallel Interfaces
- About Module Cards: Many data loggers allow you to customize or expand interfaces directly within the device
How is data from different interfaces synchronized?
