FAQ

In this FAQ, you’ll find answers to key questions about the XORAYA N2000 data logger—from typical use cases and technical specifications to how it compares with other solutions.

The XORAYA N2000 is a data logger for vehicle networks. The data logger records communication data and measurement data from bus systems such as CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, FlexRay, and Automotive Ethernet.

Typical applications for the XORAYA N2000 data logger include:

  • Vehicle Development: Recording and Analyzing Communication in Vehicle Networks During the Development of Control Units and Vehicle Functions
  • Test drives and vehicle testing: Long-term recording of bus communication and measurement data in test vehicles
  • Test benches and laboratory environments: Logging communication and measurement data during component or system testing
  • Analysis of Vehicle Networks: Investigation and Diagnosis of Communication on Bus Systems Such as CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and Automotive Ethernet
  • Functional validation: Analysis and troubleshooting of vehicle functions, such as in the areas of ADAS, infotainment, or comfort systems
  • Quality Assurance: Recording and Analysis of Communication Data During Validation and Production Preparation

The XORAYA N2000 data logger can be combined with other XORAYA data loggers, such as the N4000, to build scalable measurement and logging systems for vehicle networks.

Several hardware variants are available for the XORAYA N2000. Each variant combines different numbers and types of supported bus systems and interfaces.

The supported bus systems and interfaces of the data logger include

  • CAN (Controller Area Network)
  • CAN-FD (CAN with Flexible Data Rate)
  • LIN (Local Interconnect Network)
  • FlexRay
  • Automotive Ethernet (100BASE-T1, 1000BASE-T1)
  • Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-TX)
  • Analog (Analog inputs)
  • RS-232

These hardware configurations enable the parallel recording of several vehicle networks with a single automotive data logger.

Like all XORAYA logging products, the N2000 can be configured, read, and operated using the XORAYA Suite. The Suite provides customers with full functionality for working with the logger, and no additional tools need to be installed separately. One installation—and the customer has everything under control.

To operate and automate the data logger on the test bench, X2E also offers the XORAYA SDK. In addition, the XORAYA mobile app for smartphones and tablets is supported.

The XORAYA N2000 data logger is based on a modular hardware and software architecture that allows for flexible customization to meet the needs of specific development and testing projects. This enables the system to be seamlessly integrated into existing vehicle and testing environments.

  • Additional interfaces and special protocols
  • Range of functions, trigger logics and export formats
  • Capture speed, memory and system performance
  • Customized installation racks and complete vehicle integrations

The XORAYA N2000 is designed for mobile use in vehicles and test environments and has proven itself in scenarios with changing environmental conditions.

It operates reliably in a temperature range of -40 to +65 °C and is designed for use in environments subject to vibration and mechanical stress, such as those encountered during test drives.

The XORAYA N2000 combines broad interface support with robust data bandwidth in a compact form factor. Thanks to its space-saving design, it can be discreetly integrated into the vehicle, for example under the seat or in the glove compartment.

This allows multiple vehicle networks—including Automotive Ethernet—to be recorded simultaneously. When combined with the XORAYA platform, scalable logging systems can also be implemented for complex vehicle testing.

The XORAYA N2000 stands out from many data loggers on the market thanks to the following key features:

  • Support for modern vehicle networks in a single device
The N2000 supports HS-CAN, CAN-FD, RS-232, FlexRay, LIN, Automotive Ethernet (100/1000BASE-T1), Gigabit Ethernet, and analog inputs. This allows various vehicle networks and sensor signals to be recorded simultaneously without the need for multiple specialized loggers.
  • Robust data bandwidth for modern vehicle architectures
With a data bandwidth of up to 2 Gbit/s, data from multiple vehicle networks can be recorded simultaneously. This is particularly relevant for Ethernet-based vehicle architectures and data-intensive measurements.
  • Rugged design for real-world vehicle testing
The N2000 is designed for use in test vehicles and is built to withstand extreme temperatures and vibrations.
  • Expandability within the XORAYA system platform
Thanks to its integration into the XORAYA system platform, the logger can be combined with other devices and storage solutions. This makes it possible to build scalable logging systems with multiple devices for complex measurement tasks.
