Product description

The XORAYA RSU is a removable data storage unit scalable from 2 to 32 TB, which is specially designed for the data loggers XORAYA N8000 & N16000 data loggers. Depending on the data logger, it enables data to be recorded at up to 16 Gbit/s and read out via a readout station (N1 & N3) with up to 10 Gbit/s and 38 Gbit/s respectively. The 2nd generation RSU is also characterized by an improved product design, heat dissipation and the associated longevity as well as a lower weight.

The data storage system is available in different device variants, which differ in terms of storage capacity (from 2 to 32 TB) and temperature range, depending on the operating environment (C-Temp, I-Temp).

The following overview shows the service life in TBW (Total Bytes Written) of the different variants:

C-Temp
  • 2 TB: 1200 TBW
  • 16 TB: 9600 TBW
  • 32 TB: 19200 TBW
I-Temp
  • 2 TB: 1600 TBW
  • 8 TB: 6400 TBW
  • 16 TB: 12800 TBW
  • 32 TB: 25600 TBW

All components of the XORAYA ecosystem are designed to work together seamlessly and can be flexibly combined to create individual system solutions. The modular architecture enables targeted expansions without changing the existing system logic – for a consistent and scalable system in terms of data rate, memory, interfaces and performance.

All devices undergo comprehensive verification tests, including functional tests, boundary scan tests and system tests as well as EMC tests. In addition, mechanical function and wear tests, vibration tests and temperature and humidity tests are carried out to ensure reliability under real operating conditions.

We also carry out compliance tests for automotive and standard Ethernet interfaces using Teledyne LeCroy measurement systems and QualiPHY software. This produces standard-compliant, reproducible measurement results that enable reliable integration into vehicle networks and development environments.

Our development and business processes meet the requirements of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. X2E is also certified according to TISAX® (ENX Association) and meets the information security requirements of the automotive industry. All devices bear the CE mark and comply with the applicable European directives.

FAQ

In this FAQ you will find answers to key questions about the XORAYA RSU – from typical application scenarios and technical features to how it compares to other solutions.

The XORAYA RSU (Removable Storage Unit) is a removable storage unit that is used in data sinks such as the N8000 or the N16000. It can be easily removed and used for data transport or evaluation outside the vehicle.

The XORAYA ESU (External Storage Unit) is an external memory for expanding data loggers such as the N4000/N4000+ or the ML-N4000. It is connected to the device via a cable and is used to expand the storage capacity during operation.

The XORAYA RSU (Removable Storage Unit) is compatible with XORAYA data sinks that are designed for the use of removable storage units. These include XORAYA N8000 and N16000.

The RSU is inserted directly into the data sink as a removable storage medium and enables the recorded data to be quickly removed for transportation or external evaluation.

A separate read-out station (Datacube-N1/N3) is available for reading out the data, which can also be used to read out several storage units in parallel.

The XORAYA RSU is removed from the data sink as a removable storage unit and then read out via a separate readout station (Datacube-N1/N3).

This principle allows the RSU to be replaced quickly after recording and the data sink to continue operating directly while the data is read out externally in parallel.

The use of the Datacube-N3 also enables several RSUs to be read out at the same time, which leads to significant time savings, especially with large amounts of data.
