Groundbreaking for the New X2E Campus

With the groundbreaking ceremony, the X2E Group celebrated the start of construction of its new headquarters in the Große Ahlmühle industrial and commercial district in Rohrbach. In response to its continued growth, the innovative company, active in the automotive, aerospace, and energy systems sectors, is investing in a future-ready site designed to accommodate approximately 200 employees.

The project, designed by the architectural firm Werkgemeinschaft Landau, will be realized in three construction phases. The first phase now marks the start of the construction of a new, state-of-the-art office building that meets the growing demands for flexible work environments, sustainability, and efficiency. In the subsequent phases, the campus will be expanded to include additional office, warehouse, and production buildings, as well as multi-purpose halls.

“The new facilities will give us the room we need to continue growing—room for our employees, for innovation, and for the next stage of our development,” said Max Mathes, Head of Human Resources and Finance at the X2E Group. “We are excited about the opportunities this new campus will create for the future of our company.”

Sustainability is a key element of the project. The main building will be constructed to Germany’s Energy Efficiency House 40 standard, while the site is designed to operate with a high degree of energy self-sufficiency. Rooftop photovoltaic systems, additional solar carports, and a dedicated PV fence will generate renewable energy on-site. Together with battery storage systems, these installations will cover a significant share of the campus’s electricity requirements.

Completion of the first phase of construction is scheduled for mid-2027.

With the new office at the Business Campus Garching, we are taking an important strategic step to strengthen our proximity to customers in southern Germany. “Companies in this region will benefit from shorter distances, faster response times, and a direct local contact person,” emphasizes the management of X2E GmbH.

To establish and manage the new location, X2E GmbH has appointed Christopher Glaser. The experienced Technical Account Manager started his role on August 1, 2025. He brings many years of industry experience and in-depth technical expertise, making him ideally equipped to provide customers with competent advice and successfully implement projects. “I am very much looking forward to building up the new Munich office and working together with our customers in the South to drive exciting projects forward,” says Christopher Glaser.

Major Investment in Rohrbach: X2E Breaks Ground on New Corporate Campus

The X2E Group is building a new headquarters in Rohrbach, thereby sending a clear signal of growth and future viability. Over the coming years, a modern corporate campus covering an area of approximately 22,000 square meters will be developed, providing space for up to 200 employees. The first construction phase includes the central main building and the development of the surrounding outdoor areas, with an investment volume of around €10 million. The building application has already been submitted, making a construction start in late 2025 a realistic prospect. Completion is scheduled for spring 2027. The project is being realized in cooperation with HEBERGER System-Bau GmbH, HEBERGER Engineering GmbH, and the architects of Werkgemeinschaft Landau.

The Main Building as the Heart of the Campus

The new main building forms the central element of the X2E Campus. Its modern architecture is characterized by clean lines and extensive glazing. This creates an open, light-filled atmosphere and a transparent, welcoming working environment. The building design combines functional efficiency with contemporary aesthetics and reflects the site’s technological ambitions.

Focus on Sustainability

The campus has been designed with a strong focus on energy efficiency and sustainability. Large-scale photovoltaic systems—including rooftop installations, solar carports, and even an innovative PV fence—will generate a significant portion of the required energy directly on site. Combined with a modern battery storage system, this will create a highly self-sufficient and grid-friendly power supply capable of smoothing peak loads and intelligently feeding surplus energy back into the grid. In addition, provisions are being made for the future integration of hydrogen technologies. For example, rainwater will be collected and may later be used both for irrigating the landscaped areas and in electrolysis systems.

Development of Additional Construction Phases

In subsequent construction phases, two additional buildings are planned on the northern section of the site, providing production facilities on the ground floor and office space on the upper floors. On the southern section of the site, a dedicated area is planned for the hydrogen business unit, as well as a versatile multi-purpose building.

Innovative Technologies and Exciting Careers to Experience Firsthand

On Saturday, May 10, the X2E Group invites visitors to its Open Training Day from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Große Ahlmühle 25 in Rohrbach. The event is aimed at anyone interested in an apprenticeship in a technology-driven environment – particularly students and their parents.

Visitors can look forward to a varied and engaging day with exciting insights into apprenticeship opportunities at an innovative electronics company. In small guided tours through our various departments, including our modern electronics production facility, we demonstrate how theory and practice go hand in hand at X2E. Those who would like to dive even deeper can try out our interactive hands-on stations or immerse themselves in the world of technology in our flight simulator. Additionally, our trainers and HR representatives will be available to provide firsthand information about the content, opportunities, and career prospects of an apprenticeship at X2E.

Contract Signed for New X2E Location in Karlsruhe

Following Rohrbach, Wildau, and Strausberg, the next X2E location is already in the starting blocks: Karlsruhe. The “X2E Embedded Software Lab” will open at Kriegsstraße 77 and provide workspace for up to 40 embedded software developers.
The new location offers several advantages, including excellent transport connections and its central location. The newly renovated office floor is within walking distance of both the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA), making it an attractive location for students as well.
The first employees could move into the new premises on Kriegsstraße as early as April. The corresponding contracts have already been signed.
